Parent and child support centre

In the Netherlands, schools work together in regional partnerships called education support partnerships (samenwerkingsverbanden). These partnerships ensure that every child can receive education that fits their needs, including when extra support is required.

As a parent, it can sometimes be difficult to know where to go with questions about schools or additional support. For this reason, every partnership has a parent and child support centre

What can you contact a parent and child support centre for?

You can contact a parent and child support centre if you have questions about, for example:

  • finding a suitable school for your child
  • extra support at school
  • appropriate education (passend onderwijs) or special education
  • moving from one school to another

The support centres work closely with schools in the region, but they provide independent information and advice for parents and students.

The support centre you should contact depends on your child’s school level and where you live.
